Feijoa (Pineapple Guava)

An egg-shaped, dull green fruit (*Acca sellowiana*) from the highlands of southern Brazil and Uruguay, now most closely associated with New Zealand. The perfumed, faintly gritty flesh tastes of pineapple, guava, and mint at once, and is scooped from the bitter skin with a spoon. Its aroma runs well ahead of its sweetness.
